DATA DELETION

This page explains how to request deletion of your GigRadar account and the personal data associated with it, in line with your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Delete your account in the app

The quickest way to delete your account and data is directly in GigRadar: open the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, and confirm. This is processed immediately.

Deleting your account cannot be undone.

Your account, location history, squad memberships, and emergency contact details are permanently removed.

Can't access the app?

If your device is lost, broken, or you can no longer sign in, email mfundo@gigradar.africa from the address linked to your GigRadar account, with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and your registered name. We verify each request against the account on file before deleting anything, to stop someone else from deleting your data on your behalf.

What gets deleted

  • Your account details — name, email address, and authentication credentials
  • Your location history and any active safe zone data
  • Your emergency contact details
  • Your squad membership records
  • Your device push token

Squad chat messages already auto-delete after 24 hours regardless of account status, so there is normally nothing left to remove there by the time your account is deleted.

Turnaround time

In-app deletion is immediate. Email requests are processed within 30 days of verifying your identity, and you'll receive a confirmation email once it's done.

What we may retain

Where required to meet a legal, security, or fraud-prevention obligation, we may retain a limited record (for example, that a request was made and honoured) for as long as that obligation applies. This does not include your location history, squad data, or emergency contact details, which are deleted in full.

Uninstalling vs. deleting your account

Uninstalling the GigRadar app from your device stops it from collecting new data, but does not delete your account or the data already stored. To remove your data, delete your account as described above.
