PRIVACY POLICY
GigRadar ("we", "us", "our") is operated by LTC Sons (Pty) Ltd, based in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This policy explains what information GigRadar collects, why, and how it's used — in plain language, matching what the app actually does.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your password in plain text).
- Location data: your real-time GPS location, used to show your position to members of your own squad and to power safe zone alerts. Location is only ever shared with people you've explicitly joined a squad with.
- Emergency contact details: a name and phone number you provide, used solely to send an SOS alert if you trigger one and have no active squad to notify instead.
- Squad and chat data: messages sent within squad chat, and squad membership records. Squad chat messages automatically expire and delete after 24 hours.
- Device push token: used only to deliver safety alerts (like an SOS from a squad member) to your device.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use your location or personal information for targeted advertising.
- We do not share your location with anyone outside your own squad, except where a specific event or venue has a formal safety partnership with GigRadar enabling routing to on-site marshals — this only applies at partnered venues, and is disclosed at that event.
Where your data lives
GigRadar is built on Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, and Cloud Functions). Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and protected by industry-standard access controls.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To do so, contact us using the details below, or see our Data Deletion page for the full process.
Data retention
Squad chat messages are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Squads that go inactive are automatically removed after 12 hours. Account information is retained until you delete your account.
Children's privacy
GigRadar is not intended for children under 18 without appropriate parental guidance, consistent with the age acknowledgement required at sign-up.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as GigRadar's features evolve. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date above.
